Having studied Music Centre for PC further, I can now see when looking at "Device Transfer", the bit rate is not simply the bit rate that the files get transferred, it's the bit rate of any "Conversion" that may be required during transfer. Quote from Music Centre for PC, "Files that cannot be played with the device will be converted to AAC format and then transferred".

NWA45, best transfer bit rate?

I've imported my CDs to my laptop using Sony Music Centre for PC to FLAC format. I'm interested to know what's the best bit rate for transferring the FLAC files to my NWA45 Walkman. Music Centre for PC defaults to 128 kbps but there is a choice ranging from 80 kbps to 320 kbps.Hoping someone can help answer.

Hello @databus,

if space is not an issue, I would always go for the best quality the software offers (in this case 320kbit/s).

The higher the bitrate, the better the quality.

can you ask again more clearly?

if it's about transfer rate then you can't select it depends of your cable and computer but doesn't hurt the sound

if it's music bit rate then if you select FLAC...you shoudln't be able to change anything..and ESPECIALLLY not 128/320kbps... since file should be uncompressed and same quality as your original file.

It's only when a file has to be converted that you can select the bit rate.
