NW-A105 - charging while the device is off

I've just received my A105 and I want to charge it. Due to issues with the current charging source I want to charge it while it's off so no power is being drainged by the device being on (besides which there'll be times when I want to do that whether there are power source problems or not). Does anyone know where the setting is to have it not turn on as soon as it's plugged into a power source? It's not standard for an Android device to turn on when plugged in so there must be a setting somewhere, but I've not yet found it.

I did end up contacting them. It turns out that for reasons unknown none of their players can be charged while off.
