Hi Beanos and welcome.

Your model number is actually PCG-K215M, the 925M is just the Sony product code.

As you have carried out a full system restore this is most likely hardware related. There are a couple of things that you can try but I doubt that they will solve anything.

1.Clean the laser lens with a propriety cleaner – available at any PC shop.
2.In Device Manager, remove the CD/DVD drive, re-boot and let Windows find and install the drivers.

There are two firmware updates for your model on Vaio-Link, but neither is for your particular optical drive.

If you are still in warranty then I suggest that you contact support to arrange for a repair.

I own a Vaio PCG - 952M, the Pioneer DVD-RW on my laptop has not been used to burn dvd's for some time and the last time it was used was to create the 2 Recovery discs. It no longer reads the dvd recovery disks I created and refuses to burn any more DVD's just ejects them with an error every time.
I have since done a complete system recovery with the rcovery device stored on my hard drive. The problem remains..

Could it be a driver problem?? faulty DVD-rw unit??
