New VAIO

Hi - newbie with a recently purchased VAIO VGN A317S.

It's a great laptop, but I've just noticed that the screen flashes off and on, despite the fact that it is connected to AC power.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Any comments would be appreciated (sorry my first post isn't a positive one).

Hi bajan and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with your notebook at such an early stage. As you have gathered from the other thread, it is most probably a hardware problem and needs to be looked at by Sony.

One model, and I can¿t remember which, has a software patch that corrects a similar problem to this but unfortunately it is not the A317S.

hmm do you means when it start up? or after it had been on for awhile?..
mine will flick on and off at start up.. press on button, the screen is on with the vaio screen up then the screen off again for 1 sec then on again with the windows screen up...

Agreed, too many VAIOs doing it now
