Hallo / Hello

Vielen Dank

I bought a Vaio VGN-A417M via a mail-order company. I don't like the WinXP Home Edition, so I bought a version of WinXP Professional and installed it. It is already activated.
I backed up all drivers and I downloaded them on the support site and I installed the files. It works except the audio device. It is not detected by the system. I already installed the Realtek sound drivers that are delivered with the Vaio, but it doesn't work until yet. What can I do? Could anybody help me? I'm desperated...

Thank you

Hi Wizzard and welcome to Club Vaio.

First make sure that you have XP Service Pack 2 Installed, and then install the UAA High Definition Audio Class driver, followed by the Audio driver. Both drivers are contained in the original drivers pack which can be downloaded from Vaio Link.

Realtek-drivers for SP1?

Thank you

Hehe, was denn für schlimme Dinge?

I don't think that it is the Realtec drivers that require SP2, rather the UAA HD Audio Class driver.
You could try the Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver version 1.0a from Microsoft, apparently this works with SP1, but make sure that it is compatible with your machine.
I believe that you need to contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain this but you may possibly find a download somewhere.
Have a look here.

Ok, vielen Dank. Vielen Dank nochmal...

Thank you. On the pre-installed HDD there were a folder called "drivers" but it didn't include the UAA-drivers. The version on the VAIO-LINK site had it included. After the installation of the UAA the Realtek driver is now working. Thanks a lot....
