Laptop Restarts itself :S

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-k115B laptop with sp2 installed. Basically my laptop will randomly restart itself. Sometimes the screen freezes and on some occasions the screen will disappear or a funny pattern will appear and the laptop will make a beeping noise by which i have to restart the computer. I don't know whether this is coincidence but it tends to happen most when I have my Wireless card enabled although the above problems do happen anyway. Any help would be much appreciated thanks

Normally, the beeping noise at startup indicates a hardware problem.. I would try removing then reseating the memory cards.

As Rob suggested reseating the memory in the laptop will help to correct most problems like this, but also try using your computer without the Wireless card to see if preformance is compromised.

If the beeping is occurring during use and prior to a random restart, rather that at boot up, it may indicate an overheating problem which in turn would cause a re-boot.
I suggest that you download
Mobile Meter and monitor the CPU temperature.

Sounds like overheating as the astute chap above says; could be a return for warranty jobby if cleaning the air vents doesnt work 😞

The beeping occurs as the computer restarts itself or freezes so i'm inclined to think its a overheating problem although it could also be a memory problem. I will try that MM program as suggested. What are the normal temperatures that a computer should be running at? If it is a memory problem then how do i reseat it as i have no idea? Also how do i clear the air vents?

Unless you are confident about dismantling the notebook, your only option is to use a vacuum cleaner or air duster. The vacuum cleaner is probably the best option as the air duster will blow the fluff & dust into the computer.
