Hi al,

Recently, I ran a bit computational work using Matlab in my laptop VGB-B1XP. Then I received a message say, virtual low memory.
Does it meants I need to upgrade my memory module?

I've check the program & it turns out that the program need memory beyond the capability of 32bits machine.

Thanks in advance for any comments...

regards
Bart

If your VAIO becomes horrible slow, then I would upgrade the RAM. Take a look at "CRUCIAL". But you could add more space for Virtual memory.

disable Virtual Memory (swapfile or hiberfil)
restart your VAIO
creat a new swap file with a size of 2-2.5x of your RAM (1215MB for example)
Take the same size for min. and max.
I had the same problem like you. That's why I use a bigger one.
But, if you need regulary so much RAM, then it's better for an upgrade.

I'd say when you need more powerful software - then you should consider buying RAM
