I have heard that you can upgrade the original Duron 800 CPU to a Mobe Athlon 1.2Ghz CPU. Anyone any ideas if this is possible? If so where can you get an old CPU in the uK (Not e-bay)

Class mean that there were different types of CPU by AMD at thr time. There was Duron, Athlon then Athlon XP and now Barton.

Ok so now I understand Class.

BUT if the FX401 has a socket A processor and the Mobile Athlon 1.2Ghz is a socket A processor then am I missing something??.

I have carried out the latest BIOS upgrade and all was well.
I'm still not sure why I can't replace one Socket A processor for another

It's also got to do with FSB and whether the motherboard can handle the cache on the CPU
