Remember a Sony BIOS has all the useful tools surgically removed - including system temperature readings.

If you still want to have a look, you need to repeatidely press F2 until BIOS Setup appears, a little after the Sony or the VAIO logo appears is the best time to start manically pressing F2.

As Kee-Lo said, MobileMeter is the best alternative to relying on BIOS for the readings, it will check a variety of things from CPU frequency to CPU temperature and system case temperature from all supported "thermal zones" in your computer.

The link provided goes to a Japanese webpage, just click the MobileMeter link at the top of the page to download it.
