My Gigapocket is acting up it crashes the pc and forces a restart how can I re-install it without a complete system restore

Yeah go to "Add or Remove programs" witch you can find on the control panel.

Uninstall:
Giga Pocket 5.5
Giga Pocket Demo Movie
Giga Pocket Hardware Library 5.5

That will remove Giga Pocket completely:smileygrin:

my gigapocket is only ver 5, it comes as part of the restore disks,
I dont want to do a full re-nstall

Insert your Vaio recovery disc: click continure, Click Go on "install individual applications" and choose what program that you wanna reinstall.

But you have to uninstall Gigapocket 5.0 manually before reinstalling.

The system disks for my PC are "restore Disks"
they need to boot the pc from startup, they are not install disks lika a windows CD. they seem to be more like a data dump thing:smileycry:

I was just about to post that your model does not have the Vaio recovery utility, which would explain why nothing happens when you insert the CD and that you should search all disks.

Fraid it did'nt

Now I cannot record video, comes up with "timer recording not started"

I have tried reinstalling it uninstalling it deleting it

MPEG Decoder, UI Library, Encoder Board Driver, Microsoft DirectX 9 or later (Windows Update), Requires 😧 Partition.

Hopefully you will find the first three in the pre-installed drivers/utilities on Vaio-Link.

Sorry to be a pest, all checked and done

but I still get

"Timer recording Manager could not start recording. won't be recorded"

Sorry, I am getting toward the end of my experience on this issue, but do you have the following file:

C:\Program Files\Sony\giga pocket\ReserveModule.exe

This, I understand, is the Time Recording Manager. If this is missing then maybe another application needs to be installed.

I have Decided to reinstall everthing and do some winter spring cleaning, so I have fitted two new 250 Gig Disks and Im off.

So far no problems, Gigapocket is ok.

One thing I did notice is that I should have upgraded Click to DVD before installing SP 2

This could have been the problem

I am pleased to hear that all is now OK!

A system re-build is always a good idea and should probably be performed once a year – but what a hassle putting everything back on again:smileyrolling_eyes:
