      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Unless someone knows better:smileygrin: , I have never seen references to makes and models of motherboards.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am sure if its broken Sony will fix it, but they do not tend to be generic motherboards and I assume Sony either manufacture the boards themselves or have them made to their own Sony design.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you wanted to upgrade the CPU, the chipset should be the key to determining max processor speed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am not even sure a generic ATX motherboard would fit and then their would be problems with hooking up all the lights etc as no doubt the Sony plug for all this will be in one block.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;William&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

For instance if its Intel you can trot off to the Intel site and look at the specs of the chipset. This should enable you to find out the max supported processor speed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you wanted total upgradeability you would have been better with a generic plastic box with generic parts but then again you would probably find that the only original bit left in two years time would be the plastic box.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;William&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Nothing is cheap but I have never seen computers cheaper (comparitively).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If its old and you can pick up a faster processor cheap on Ebay to give your computer a bit more life - Fine.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I personally see little point in major upgrades with the prices of base units what they are now.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To me the only exotic bits are the very leading edge CPU's and  graphics cards which are always going to cost an arm &amp;amp; a leg.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And believe it or not I used to be the world leader in PC upgrades. I must have wasted a bloody fortune just to play the latest games.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;William&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
