My fz21e screen has gone totally blank 1 minute it was fine next nothing , keep hearing about a faulty graphics chip has anyone else had this problem also did anyone manage to get it fixed ?

Hi DHJ1964 and welcome,

The VGN-FZ21 is one of the models that Sony has acknowledged is affected by the nVidia faulty graphics chip. If this is the problem then it will be repaired free of charge for up to three years from purchase.

I suggest that you contact Vaio Support.

Hi many thanks for that and sony collected my laptop, that was 5 days and i have not heard from them does anyone have any idea on the time scale of this fault ?

Our VGN FZ21 developed the graphics problem.

It was picked up and returned within the 5 days promised by Sony.

We understood that the guarantee was 4 years, the machine had the mainboard replaced free of charge and is now working perfectly.

Hopefully you should have your machine returned shortly.
