Working away merrily and screen goes black. Power button flashes orange and I can't seem to get my work back. It comes back eventually (after a few minutes of pressing every key under the sun) but I would like to know what is going on. I have only had my Vaio a couple of weeks and it has already been back for repair! Is it me?

All help and advice would be appreciated.

Power button flashes orange and I can't seem to get my work back.

Which of the following do you see when the screen goes blank.?

The power indicator status is as follows -

Glows green when the Vaio is on,

Blinks slowly in Orange when in standby,

Off when the vaio is hibernate or turned off.

The battery indicator status

Glows orange when battery is charging.

Blinks fast indicates battery error.

Battery & Power -

Blinks along with the green power indicator when the battery is running out of power (normal mode)

Blinks along with the orange indicator when the battery is running out of power (sleep mode)

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Sent to Sony. Had Boot up problems. After putting in password it went back to boot up procedure, went through second time around after putting in password again. Sony have on their sheet

Boot / shutdown / power - HDD boot failure / Smart failure

What was repaired.?

Replaced 1x"GB/1x4GB memory module. OS reinstalled. BIOS updated. RAM 1x2048MB=61444MB total.

The power indicator status is as follows -

Glows green when the Vaio is on, - YES

Blinks slowly in Orange when in standby, - I presume my computer is going into standby mode without my help!

Off when the vaio is hibernate or turned off. - YES

The battery indicator status

Glows orange when battery is charging. YES

Blinks fast indicates battery error. Not doing this.

Just a thought - did you perhaps close the Vaio's lid for a moment?

can you please check your have given us the correct case ID please..:smileyconfused:

If you believe the case ID is correct then I think it's best that you contact Vaio support again to try and resolve the problem, seeing as your vaio is new and just returned from repair.

To find contact details for Sony Vaio support..

Open Vaio support, either by clicking Support at the top of this page or use the following link:Vaio support

Under Log-in option 1: Enter your vaio models serial number, which you should find on the bottom of your Vaio.

Then click Log-In

Once logged select Get In Touch

Thanks for your last email. I apologise for delay n getting back to you. Site was down when I first tried.

I did not contact Vaio in the end because I discovered that it only happened when I moved my computer while it was on. I now have it on a solid platform on my lap and the problem has not occurred since. Thank you so much for all of you help.
