I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

I think you have the wrong attitude here, once/if Sony start getting things right then they might start getting support from the community. Until that happens I'm afraid Sony deserve everything it gets.
That sums it up nicely to the way i feel at the moment to be honest. But just maybe im bucking to trend of the collective hysteria in actually trying to assist in doing something about the issues you are all experiencing.
To the people that have said kind words over the time, you know who you are (as so do I), i wish to say thank you.
Its time that i respectively back away from this thread.
@Anonymous I can completely understand your reasons and although disappointing to hear - because you provided valuable information and insight which we will now be lost without.
However, I fully appreciate your circumstances and wish you all the best - its a thankless task.
You have been a great help.
regards
PS.I will fill in the spreadsheet later for what its worth & Sony if you read this, you guys need some representaion on here.
I think there has been some mixed wires here; the "beta" tester comment someone made wasn't in reference to the excel spreadsheet but is a general consensus based on how the TVs could have come to market with so many issues.
No one should be criticising or getting shirty with @Anonymous as he's just a consumer like the rest of us and has opted to try and funnel our issues to Sony - basically, don't shoot the messenger.
Quinnicus dont go... whoever is kicking you on here does not realise how much you have put onto this thread...
I apprecitate you help... 🙂
@Anonymous doesn't deserve the hassle - the grief needs directed at Sony who have failed miserably from the word go. I really don't understand why anyone is hanging on to these televisions as its clear they will be obsolete in 2016 - and current owners will have paid for that privilage. You can be sure Sony will be putting their best efforts into their new 2016 lineup.I'm only staying here until my new panny arrives then I'll report as to how it compares to my old Sony.
To @Quinnicus - many thanks for all your efforts - it was appreciated.

- I dont get paid, especially to be the whipping boy.
- This is having a detrimental effect in my continued mental health issues

Then, frankly, you should NOT continue... I'm sure your Doctor would tell you likewise...
As much as Sony seem to be showing open contempt for their customers, the fact that they're willing to put unpaid volunteers on the front line makes them all the more despicable...
Collective anger and hysteria are not the same thing by a long chalk... I'm angry enough; but could afford just to move the set to another room, buy something else and move on. - But I do remember only too well what it is to struggle to buy something. For many this is a major investment; what have Sony sold them?
And in that respect it is sheer abuse by Sony for them to have not dealt with these issues...
Even more so since, not only will they not come on here to defend themselves and deal with the issues, they are apparently happy to abdicate that responsibility too... Even to the extent some members of their PR team would appear to have tried to intefere with the outcry...
So no Quinnicus... Please don't be the whipping boy.... Tell 'Sony' to get their backsides out here and face the music!
hi m8 can you send me a copy please
I'm new to the forum here but I have been following over the last couple of weeks with intrest.
I have the x85c in 55". I purchased it from Currys PC World (purely because they had the best price - as much as I hate shopping with DSG).
I have to say, I guess I'm fortunate that most of these issue do not affect me. I do quite like the TV and would love to keep hold of it. I'm really hoping that software updates can solve the problems they are having.
However, the one thing that is really bugging me, and it's a tough one as it is really starting to grate on me, is the sluggishness of the system overall.
Just hopping in and out of apps is cumbersome. Changing channels is slow. Bringing up the guide, well, better prep the TV 5 minutes before your show starts.
It really is irritating. I'm not sure how the QA guys (if any) looked at this performance and thought 'Yep, that's polished and ready.'.
Just venting really, as like I said, I do like the TV. I like the fact Android is built in. PLEX/Netflix work really well for me, but please Sony, just speed up the OS/System Navigation.
It's probably worth mentioning that the apps themselves (PLEX for instance) are very responsive when in them, it just seems to be the underlying OS that's sluggish.
Oh, and whilst I'm venting - SKY - Get the flipping Now TV app updated for Android TV!
