Sony KD-49XE9005 Issues

Installed the latest FW last week and have had a issue where the TV dims a little then goes bright a little in games with the Xbox series x . it happens when I'm mainly panning around slightly in a bright game and GTA 5 is one of the mainly effected games where you can see it the most and is noticeable quite a bit.

 

Its a bit like a flickering like the screen is trying to adjust the brightness of the backlight but is confused so it sort of jumps back and forth mainly happens in bright areas of the game where you can notice it the most.

 

This also happens in other content to like broadcast TV and other devices i use with the TV like the amazon fire stick. Its annoying especially when your not looking for it and know its there and can see it. Wasn't like this on my previous FW had no issues things were fine until i updated it last week to the latest FW then that's when the issues started.

 

Also got a issue where it displays the TV input source along the top of the screen that comes up from time to time too which never happened on my previous FW too current version is v6.7165. Anyone else noticed these issues too. Would like this to be resolved any help or input on this would be most appreciated thanks.

Have you tried a soft reset or full factory reset if that doesn’t work?

I have been using the v6.7165 update since May on my KD-55XE9305 without any problems however I don’t have any games machines.

Hi thanks for the reply  yeah I've tried a soft reset by holding in the power button on my TV remote and also done a factory reset and also a forced factory reset all have done nothing and i still see the issue of the screen going dim and bright again. I'm not sure what to do about this issue love my TV too and don't want to spend money on another so kind of stuck with this issue at the moment 😞

Hey, what is your current software version? Is it 6.7165? And does it happen while connecting the Xbox only? Have you tried to connect the same device with different TV to test it?

Hi thanks for the reply. Yeah that’s the software version I’m on and it happens whist watching normal broadcast  TV or when I’m connected to the amazon fire stick. Haven’t connected the Xbox to another TV as the issue seems to be with the TV as it’s doing it on the fire stick when plugged into the TV. And also when watching TV with the built in free view player. This never happened before I updated the TV  so got to be an issue with the latest firmware I installed or one of the previous ones before that.  I haven’t updated my TV in years had it 5 years and only ever done 2 updates for it. First one I done 4 years back was fine and the last one I done a few weeks ago did something to my TV. I’ve must of got multiple updates for it all rolled into one with the latest one I done a few weeks back since it’s been that long since I updated the TV. I’ve also noticed the black adjust feature for the TV has issues with it to as on games when clicking in and out of menu screens of a game whist there’s a bright back ground the screen flickers a lot too soo need to switch this off does it whist aiming down the sights of sniper rifles too which is annoying so I have to turn the black adjust feature off. But the screen going dim then bright at times is the main issue that I can’t seem to fix no matter what feature I turn off or turn down on the TV. But everything was fine with the TV before this and was really happy with it until I updated it recently I just want it resolved really and would be happy if Sony could fix this issue with the TV to how it was before I updated it. What ever they’ve changed in one of the software updates for the TV has done something has made the TV preform worse to what it used to preform like

Hi yeah I’ve contacted Sony tried to send a couple of videos over via my email but the files were to big and could only send files the size of 30mb and mine for 100mb and 200mb so had to send them over via OneDrive. I’m just waiting for a reply back from them now and hoping to get this resolved as it’s annoying and wasn’t like this before I updated the TV which had now ruined the viewing experience of my TV. I can’t use the black adjust feature now too as it’s even worse when I do so i now have to turn this off. I have also got a issue where the TV displays the input source across the top of the TV multiple times a day this happens randomly and could happen at any point of the day so there’s no way to take a video of this and send it over to them. Only ever updated my TV 2 times in the 5 years I’ve had it and wish I never updated it the second time a few weeks ago as now I’ve got issues with it that I never had before the second update. Is there a way you can upload these to youtube or somewhere? I would be interested to see and compare as I also have an XE9005 but, have not noticed this behaviour.
