Sony TV 55A90J + Yamaha sound bar YSP 4000 = out of sync volume level

Hi everyone!

I bought 55A90J alomost three months ago, and I have this weard issue of "out off sync volume level" between TV and my Yamaha sound bar YSP-4000.

When I press and hold volume up (+) on my tv remote controler, the sound meter on TV would go up much faster, than the meter on sound bar (and the actual sound level would be lower).

Same if i press and hold volume down (-), the meter would get down faster on tv than on sound bar, and would reach 0 before sound bar (the actual sound level would still be higher - above 0).

Is anyone having this problem?

I hope it would be fixed in the next software update, or is there any quick solution to this issue.

Does this happen on the latest software version for you?

Yes, update didn't make a change.

It was a day 1 issue, and recent update didn't help.

Hi Ivan,

I don't think this is even an issue. It is normal for the TV and soundbar to display different sound levels, and you can find this information on the Sony website here.

I can not accept that Sony TV has a scale 1-100 (and my Yamaha soundbar also the same 1-100) but when I press and hold volume up/down it (counter) runs in different speed on TV and on soundbar.

I had no issue on few previous TVs (Samsung and LG) - counter speed of 1-100 was in tune with the soundbar.

Only if I single-click volume up/down than it goes at the same rate, but if i hold volume up or down, counter goes much faster on TV than on my soundbar.

P.S. There was another update wich I did yesterday, but no change, the problem is still present.

Hi ivan_sw007, I found this on one of Sony manuals:

If the Control for HDMI function is set to on, the value of the volume level on the Sound Bar may appear on your TV as the TV volume. The output sound levels of the Sound Bar and TV differ even though the values of the volume level on the Sound Bar and TV are set to the same value. The output sound levels of the Sound Bar and TV differ depending on the sound processing characteristics of each, and it is not a malfunction.

I`m so sorry, but I guess my english is not as good as I tought, as I didn`t express my toughts precise, so anyone could detect a problem I`m talking about.

Now I see the topic title might be misleading.

My problem is this:

I set  (with both remotes) my soundbar and my TV to lets say 30 on the volume counter.

When I press and hold volume - on my TV, the counter on the TV in one second gets to 0, but my conter on the soundbar reaches only 15. It can not keep up with the counter speed on the TV.

And when the counter is at 0 on TV, there is still sound from soundbar as it didnt also reach the value of 0.

Same goes if i press and hold volume + and in a two seconds it goes from 30 to 100 on TV, but gets only to 50 on my soundbar.

To summ it up: TV volume counter runs much faster on TV than on my soundbar, and no one can tell me that that can be a normal thing, as I personaly used that (what once was the most advanced and the most expensive) soundbar from Yamaha on other TV-s (LG Samsung), and TV volume counter speeds were on point.

I`ll soon upload a video, and hope it would speek more than words.

Hi ivan_sw007, I don't think that's a problem either. Maybe someone else can help you with this.
