I have recently paid a lot of money for a Sony RX10 M4 camera. The camera is fine. But I continue to experience problems using the atrocious Imaging Edge Software to transfer photos from the camera to my Pixel6a phone running Android 14. The camera appears in the connected cameras panel (I have successfully scanned the QR code). 99% of the time the camera does not connect. It has connected 4 times so the connection sometimes works. I send bug reports as requested although whether anyone is reviewing these I doubt. There is no means of contacting the developers via the email address on the playstore appstore. Any emails are bounced. Support appears non existent. The playstore review section seems to consist of hundreds of disgruntled users.
I want to know what Sony are doing to address this issue having shelled out ££££££s to you. I expected better.
This is a Sony community forum, and we are Sony users like you.
Sony aren't necessarily here.
Thanks.
But you would hope that they would show some interest wouldn't you?
That's not what it says on the Google play store (see screenshot)
And if that list is to be believed the software does not appear to have been verified on any recent Sony phone either
That cannot be right.
That is either laziness on Sony's behalf or incompetence
After going around in circles with Sony Support, they have confirmed that IEM is not compatible with iOS 18 (released Sept 2024). The advice given was to use an Apple device with iOS 17 or earlier. Not helpful.
Whilst there is a workaround (manually entering the WiFi password each time), can anyone recommend another app that will support WiFi transfer between Sony RX10 M4 camera and Apple device (iPad and iPhone) using iOS18?
@Bigdave Try to use creator's cloud web app instead, it's compatible with iOS 16.7 - 18.1: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/compact-cameras-dsc-rx-series/dsc-rx10m4/articles/CCCC010...
Does Creators Cloud support transfer of photos from the RX10 MK4 (Dave's camera and issue) to mobile devices?
I had assumed that only the useless IEM app was compatible.
If so I will replace IEM with Creators Cloud.
Btw i wrote to the Creative Cloud developers at their advertised support email address to get advice/help about fixing IEM and they cannot be bothered to reply.
Thanks for this.
I’ve tried, but the Creators Cloud Web doesn’t seem compatible with this camera - but that could be user error on my part! Also, I really don’t need any Cloud storage, as I have that covered off already.
The only functionality I want to have working, that is painful using IEM, is the WiFi transfer of photos from camera to iPad. I have tried “Camrote” App, and whilst a bit bland, on the three occasions I have used it so far, seems to work fine.
