Hi,
I am having a problem at the moment with my computer date. Every now and then it will change to the year 6004. I have checked for spyware and viruses and I also did an OS restore yesterday.
The date changes when my pc has been running for a long length of time. The only apps that are running are Norton Firewall, my DNS Updater, click to DVD and MSN messenger.
Anyone else seen this?
Cheers
Paul
Not liable if it isnt.
are you a solicitor by any chance
you have to watch your back on the forum, people do get hyper if things go wrong.
Could be a dodgy battery, CMOS or even a dodgy real time clock. If it's the CMOS or RTC then I'm afraid you are doomed to suffer the problem until the chip is changed out.
Outside chance but try resetting the BIOS to it's default settings.
Ooooh Tyger are you a solicitor by any chance

Hehe normally the BIOS goes back to the first date programmed into it.
Something like Jan 1 1970
Hmm..
This may invlove a little chat with Sony then - the PC is only 6 months old or so
i don,t know how to help you but maybe you have wandered into a "Temperal Vortex" ?, i know captains Picard,Janeway and Archer have got into a lot of trouble with the Federation for messing about with time travel because you can really mess things up in the future if you,re not careful.
good luck in sorting out your problem:smileylaugh:
i know i,m a sad old trekkie:smileywink:
Hehe yes I guess you have to.
Ooooh Tyger are you a solicitor by any chance
I've done a little soliciting on the side yes. And if you didn't laugh then find a dictionary and look up soliciting
Er on a more serious note I meant that the battery had so little power that after a few minutes it cut out completely, whereby the BIOS date actually resets itself to a weird date rather than it actually is just slowing down.
Acually I'm just clutching at straws too never heard of anything like it. Can't you just remember it's 2004?
Sony must have high hopes for this model if the bios can cope with 6004, would this not point to a Windows issue or does the bios also change to 6004?
