I have a Vaio S (VPCS13V9E/B), which is about one year old. Initially, it ran fine, then after a while it became really slow. For example, when I am typing in Word the letters will often appear several seconds after I have typed them - not constantly several seconds behind, but in bursts. This is both frustrating and makes it very difficult to type. Frankly it is unacceptable for a £1000 computer. I am not running anything special on the computer - just Windows 7 with the main Office Programmes (Word, Excel, etc). The computer has 6 GB of memory, a 500GB hard disc which is largely empty, etc .... So I dont understnad what is wrong. Recently, I got so fed up that I reset the computer back to its status a little after I got it in Feb 2010 - and for a few days it worked like a dream. But now the old problems are returning. It seems like the computer gets preoccupied with doing something else, rather than letting me do what I want, including simple things like typing in Word. This is very very annoying. This is my third Vaio - I also have a TZ which has been fine (with 2GB of memory) and an SZ - again, no big problems. But this one ... what a nightmare! Please help. Thanks.
Hi brucet135
This is a difficult one but, assuming that you have not already done so, a FULL virus/malware scan using more than one utility would be advisable. In addition to your regular scanner try Dr Web Cure It.
If that has no effect then examine processes in Task Manager for anything that is using unusually high CPU or memory.

I bet the CPU utilization is is always at 100% in this case. When verified, please check what application is causing this.
