Just got my XA2 Ultra and everything is going good except one thing that might be a deal breaker. It's very slow to connect to my trucks bluebooth. It's a 2017 RAM 1500, with the UConnect 8.4 system. UConnect software is up to date.
With two other phones paired, they connect within 10-15 seconds fully as soon as I start the truck up. With the XA2, it can take 3-4 minutes before everthing is fully linked up and working (Audio controls and audio playback being the last thing to work and the most important thing to me as I like to get my music or podcasts rolling before I start driving, kind of unsafe to fool with that stuff once I get moving)
Other phones are:
ZTE Axon 7, runing 7.1
Honor 8, running 7.0
These is my first Oreo 8.0 device, so that "may" have something to do with it, but I think it's more of a software issue on the XA2 Ultra
I have deleted all phones on my trucks sytem, and made sure the XA2 Ultra is the only device and primary device. Unpaired and repaired. Even un-selected sync contacts this last time thinking that could have been a hold up (even though I only hvae like 50 contacts)
I can enable developer optoins and try a different Bluetooth AVRCP versoin if someone thinks that will help. Any other ideas? Wait for next software update? I have about 25 days left before I have to return the phone and get my money back. This really is the only issue I have found so far with the device, and it's just something I can't deal with personally.
Trying different AVRCP version is worth trying, but make sure to unpair the phone and your car kit before changing it, then redo the pairing process after changing AVRCP and restarting your phone.
Just to add: Android Oreo 8.0 Bluetooth glitches are very common and should be addressed in 8.1.
Yeah, seen some complaints and 8.1 fixing it for other devices on ither boards. Know Sony hasn't announced when 8.1 will get pushed out for XA2 devices. I will update back later today to see if 1.5 or 1.6 helps.
Changing the AVRCP version did not help at all. Really made no difference in the behavior.
So it appears my only hope of fixing the issue is 8.1. Does anyone have any clue as to if Sony will be pushing out 8.1 for this device?
You can try to reset your network settings as a last try, this will reset all your Bluetooth, WiFi, and APN settings in addition to removing any paired devices. Don't forget to remove your phone from your car kit's device list too before trying to pair them again.
Go to Settings -> System -> Reset -> Reset network settings.
No go. Guess I will be returning the device. I like the device otherwise but this Bluetooth delay with my truck is dangerous since hands free doesn't work for the forst part of any drive. Didn't mention before, but no Bluetooth metadata either once it starts working, but I could have lived with that if it didn't take so long to fully connect.
Well I waited and confirmed that even after updadting to the new update (50.1.A.10.40) the bluetooth issues are still present on the device. It's still 8.0, with the June security patch. Looks like they improved the camera focusing, that is about all I have noticed. Does anyone have an official change list for this update?
Still hoping 8.1 eventually comes and fixes this stupid bluetooth bugs....
