Hi,
Bought phone of eBay few days ago and used it on holiday in Duabi today in the swimming pool for less than 3 minutes at a depth of under 0.85M. After taking 2-3 pictures the phone just froze and came to Lock screen and then the touch display did not work.
After taking out of water and leaving phone at the side came back to use and now screen is not turning on. I have checked and called the phone and it works but restarted it several times and charged it but nothing comes up on screen.
CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN AS I WAS TOLD THIS IS WATERPROOF AND I TESTED IT WHICH I WAS SCARED TO DO AND NOW PHONE SCREEN DOES NOT DISPLAY ANYTHING!
This is interesting. http://technology.iafrica.com/news/963932.html
I am waiting for the reply from the repair centre to see what they say. If I don't get a replacement or free repair I will be contacting the ASA here in the UK as well as taking to Twitter to vent some rage.
This phone celarly is NOT 100% waterproof as they are advertising.
Daneber was your Z2 replaced or fixed for free or did Sony make you pay saying it wasn't covered by the warranty?
Okay good to know thanks. I'm still furious about this, especially as all the accessories I bought have been turning up, to rub salt (water) into the wound!
Edit: Just found this - read the waterproof section: http://www.abc.net.au/technology/articles/2014/10/08/4102877.htm
Hi all,
So I have just contacted Sony live support to get an update and the girl told me they have posted my phone back today. She said the IMEI has changed so either they have replaced the phone or mother board.
I asked about charges and she said because it has been posted out already there will be no charge for the replacement. The report with the phone will give me details of the fault so I will post this when I get it.
So it seems Sony have acknowledge that my phone was faulty and have replaced it. It would have been nice to recieve some email communication from Sony to let me know what was happening but I am pretty pleased I'm getting a new phone with no charge as I should.
I would suggest that everyone who has sent their phone back from water damage contact live support with their repair refence.
FYI I posted mine back last Monday 6th so a pretty swift turnaround.
Good luck everyone and don't put your phone under water!!
you were lucky with the iPhone!!! my 5 has never been in water but when it started playing up after about 12 months they refused to repare as water damaged!!!
That was the reason I bought the Z3, has anyone actually used the phone under water without problems???
