Bravia KD-43X8305C sluggish

My KD-43X8305C has become sluggish and requires frequent resets to factory settings. I don't know if it needs a firmware update.  By contrast, my 49-inch Bravia is much faster all round.

Does anyone know what the latest firmware is for the KD-43X8305C?

I can only restate what I already wrote: it is a really old model and the app are getting more and more demanding. You can easily fix this if the  panel still satisfy you by purchasing a fire stick or a Roku one

The TV itself is fine - i.e. no problems with picture quality etc.

A Fire Stick or Roku is just adding another device to the system and I don't think they would solve the problem with BBC iPlayer.

Thanks for the idea though.

PS. iPlayer is free to licence payers in the UK.

The TV has currently has firmware version PKG5.433.0183EUB.

I have found a 1.5GB folder on my PC called 'sony_tvupdate_2015_5457_eub_auth' which must be firmware version 5.457.

I'm wary of installing it though because of the risk of something going wrong, and I'm not sure how to do it anyway. Does anyone know of a foolproof method of installation?

Afaik Roku streaming devices support bbc iplayer (I am not living in uk ) and with few pounds you get a fast access to all the apps. When it will become obsolete like your tv you can simply change it for a new version. And you can still control it with th tv remote. No firmware update will make the hardware of your tv faster unfortunately. This is what I ‘ d do
