Sony Bravia AF9 new firmware v6.5016 Jan 2021 annoying power consumption notification

The new firmware just installed on my TV has introduced a very annoying notification about power consumption. You have to click “ok” or "cancel" on the pop up notification every time picture mode or picture brightness setting is changed.

It is such a stupid implementation because even if you are choosing a less bright/lower power consumption mode you get this notification which you have to click through.

Which numpty thought this was a good idea and how the hell did it get through quality control? Don't need to see this multiple times every time the settings are changed. Please remove it or restrict it to only once each time you go into settings or provide an option to turn it off by the next update.

Have anyone tried to disable any built in software to get around this?

They should replace it with a British Flag pop-up.

Common sense. Considering writing to my MP.

I also agree -  please consider removing

Over 3 Months and still there and still just as annoying, no formal response from SONY, the US firmware updates do not get the power messages so the UK should get the same. Just a reminder SONY that the UK is no longer in the EU.

I’ve only just updated my Sony Bravia in the UK and got this stupid message. It’s doubly annoying as the ambient light sensor works so badly (it seems to think that one size fits all as there are no parameters to adjust as there were on my Samsung and Toshiba - on the Toshiba I could even construct a custom non-linear dimming curve that was applied as the ambient light dropped) so I need to constantly be adjusting the Brightness. Not at all impressed with Android OS!

Hi Pat100, which model do you have? what inch size? What happens when you use the light sensor? Do you get any error messages?

When my room becomes dark, the sensor slowly reduces the brightness but too far. It needs a minimum customisable setting similar to the one which my Samsung used. I used to just leave that on auto sensor all the time and hardly ever needed to use the brightness control at all.  My room varies from daytime very bright, huge window and white walls, to night dark with just a low power light behind the telly.
As far as controlling the telly goes, I prefer the control afforded by Tizen over Android. Though, its great to be able to watch tennis in a bright room with the Sony's loads of Nits. I switched away from Samsung because of Dolby Vision. (Note: I use an AppleTV box exclusively.)

That sounds like a great idea!

Have you considered reaching out to Sony support reps to leave that as feedback so they can have it implement in a future update?

Dear Sony,

I just bought the KE-55A8 tv which is about 1500 euros and it is treating me like a little child with this popup. I have to adjust during the day for sensitive eyesite. Usually less bright. Now EVERTIME in EVERY menu option this pops up!!

Seriously,  can you FIX THIS already? Just put an acknowledgement box in there and then leave it.

I actually bought this one because of quick settings........ so what do i do? Bring it back?
