My remote is not connecting to my TV. Remote has new batteries. Tried to reset TV and now I cannot go past the initial page listing the different languages. I wonder if it is a problem with the TV sensor?

Thank you. I tested the remote and this conformed sending signals. I have actually bought a new Sony universal remote today but the TV did not respond to this either. I reset the TV but cannot move on the setup beyond the welcome screen showing the options of several languages. The TV does not respond to remote to select English language and the TV has no buttons to help me selecting the language and continue with setting up.

In Italy some time ago some users with the XF Series had problems with the Infrared receiver. I think it is the cause, you have to contact the Assistance.

I'm afraid it seems to be a hardware issue that requires a repair by their technicians. Try reaching out to the Sony reps directly though, any more digging in different places would just confuse things more.

There is an app you can use to control the set ( my set has this fault too, seems quite common ) the app is called SonyMote, iOS link here
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/sonymote-remote-for-sony-tv/id907119932
obviously you need the set on Wi-Fi for it to work, buttons on the set are useless once the remote can’t be used but the app has helped me. And yup I’ll have to sort for an engineer or ditch the set and go LG C1 or G1.

Since it needed an engineer, maybe it was the IR censor that's faulty?
Anyway, glad to know that it'll get sorted soon.
