Continual tone after texting

As soon as I send a text message I get a soft four note tone that sounds continually until I turn the phone off and on again. Any ideas what causes this or how to turn it off?

I asked about this in the o2 shop where I bought the phone and they suggested that the recent update for the phone may have become corrupted. I used PC Companion to do a repair and reinstall of the update and after setting everything up again it seems to be ok - at the moment.
