Not sure about recording in Ireland. But HDD needs to formatted to FAT32
But the more pertinent question is, your TV model number? Is it KDL-32EX532 or KDL-32EX523? Reason I ask is because I dont think that there is a EX532 model, but there is a EX523.
Assuming that you have the KDL-32EX523
I have been taking a look at the manual for the EX523 model, and I can see that it has 2 USB ports. Neither one of them is labled HDD. This suggests to me that you cannot connect a USB HDD to this TV and record TV. Looking at the manual futher, there is nothing in their to state USB HDD recording.
According to the specifications of the EX523 : HERE
There is a line next to USB HDD recoding (suggesting it is not supported)
A futher google search gives very mixed results, but I believe that the EX524 supports USB HDD recording
Therefore Im concluding that it is not possible for the EX523 model (unless further evidence suggests so)
