I'm currently looking for a new charger for my NS series.
My original charger (which i've only had 2.5 years) has started to beep and the LED light no longer lights up, and concequently my laptop does not charge up.
I've just been told by a well known technology supplier that Sony laptops are nutoriously hard to 'match' with universal chargers due to the laptops not recognising the adapter once it is plugged in...does anyone know this is true?
They said it was all to do with the connection plug etc, i was advised to bring my laptop in so they can test which charger is recognised by my laptop-seems a bit strange?!
Please could anybody offer me any advice on how to go about purchasing a replacement?
As its a manufactor fault would sony replace it free of charge? I would prefer an legitamate sony charger, but i just cannot afford £99! My computer probably isn't even worth that much now!

Hi Rachel_H,
£99 for a replacement charger sounds excessive even if it is a genuine Sony adaptor.
Can you let us know the exact model number of your notebook and the part number of the power adaptor (possibly VGP-AC19V26)? Also please have a look at the label on the adaptor and report back on the output voltage and amperage (possibly 19.5V 4.7A).
You should be able to purchase an adaptor for approx. £25.
