Dvd's wont Play New vgn-s1xp laptop

Hi,

Im having problems playing dvds on my s1xp. They dont play at all. This is a brand new laptop 1 week old. It will read normal cd's. Anyone had any problems with this?? Any known software problems??

Ok i've tried a dvd (furturama volume 2) works fine. yes the dvd's were cheap. 100 DVD+R's for £30 from Maplins and £20 for 20 DVD+RW's from the same place. I've had a look in the instructions for my VAIO and noticed it says nothing about using +R's and +RW's, just the minus versions. So i went and returned em and bought 10 DVD-RW's and 20 DVD-R's from PC World for £50 (which seems a rip off, but i just wanna get this working!)

Trying the Imation DVD-RW's and... it recognises it as blank media no funny noises either! I assume it'll work now, if it doesn't i'll let you know.

Ah well, maybe it was just the type rather than the cheapness. Sorry if it cost you

Yeah I have all the Futurama's on DVD too
