I'm installing Windows XP pro onto by laptop (PCG-K115Z) which has Xp home edition on it currently but its just not cutting the mustard at work.

Does anyone know if i will i be able to reinstall the programs for the recovery disk ?

Probably the worst question ever sorry:smileyblush:

Don't worry about the way you asked this question!

Sony are a pain for this: if you want to use the recovery disk you must have the original OS installed (in your case Windows XP Home Edition) as you will probably find the recovery disk is useless with WIndows XP Professional installed over the top.

I know its not exactly fair...

Oh well i still need Pro so guess i'll have to see what happens and hope for the best. Bit of a pain considering i did pay for the software but c'est la vie.

In fairness DeLL also give you a hell of a lot of trouble along with the Windows CD  Well that my experience with them anyway (main reason i bought a sony)

Nice to read that its not only Sony that are a pain in the ar**.

At the end of the day I am sure they are all the same.

As William says, most companies have something that'll annoy someone.
