Hello
I was wondering if any of you received system recovery discs with your VAIO laptops (in particular the FS series) - that is if bought from the UK :), or does the recovery utility do exactly the same as recovery discs?
Thanks for any help
That series has a hard disk recovery system, so you need to make a set of DVDs ASAP
you make the dvds using the VAIO recovery utility?
Have a look here, select your model and then click on "how can I create recovery disks" for a guide to the procedure.
Thanks.
I have a T2XP and have created a system recovery disk and an application recovery disk.
Is this enought to recover the system to delivery status if I wipe and format ALL partitions on the hard disk ????
The reason is that I'm thinking about install Linux FC4, but obviously want to be able to restore if I run into problems with drivers.
Many thanks
Nigel
Using the recovery disks will restore the computer software back to it's original configuration. I dont know if it restores the recovery partition though.
I would do a couple of extra sets of disks before changing or erasing any partitions.
Yeah good idea thanks.
Out of interest whats the diff between the system recovery disk and the application recovery disk ????
Thanks
The system recovery disk restores the OS and most of the software. The application recovery disk allows you to reinstall most applications if you have uninstalled them.
Many thanks for you help Rob
