hi, my daughters laptop vaio vpcee2e1e wireless connection fails after approx 5 mins.
we have onother laptop & a home main desktop pc that have no problems with wireless connection.
it has the latest driver updates & i have uninstalled & re-installed the driver.
i have even restored the whole system to factory settings (a fresh install) & downloaded all updates but the problem is still there.
the OS is windows 7.
the browser is firefox.
i am now assuming that the wireless card is faulty & needs to be replaced but thought i'd ask someone who may know better before paying for the repair that i cant afford...
thank you.
kind regards, lee...
Hi Lee,
Check that power management is not set to turn off wireless device to save power.
Control Panel > Device Manager > Network adapters > Wireless adaptor > right click and select properties > Power Management Tab.
If that has no effect than rather than an expensive repair a cheap USB wireless adapter could be a solution.

This might be also a channel interference issue. Are there more than one wireless SSID that is in range?
Try to set the wireless router to channel 6 and all laptops at home at channel 6 too. You can probaly revert to the original settings if it won't make any difference.
Is this the only PC in the house running Windows 7?
If so, check that your router has the latest firmware installed.
It may also be worth trying to connect the Vaio to a friend's wifi network to see if it is the Vaio or the network causing the problem.
