Hi,
I just got the Sony Xperia Z3 about a week ago. First time using Android. Happy so far.
But there is a serious problem: My contacts have repeatedly simply disappeared from the phone. It happened again just now. I clicked the contacts icon, and I could see the contacts rapidly disappear, and now I am only left with:
* ICE - In case of Emergency
* Myself
What's going on?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The contacts do not go any where but somehow the listing is changed. On your Contact upper right press the three dots -and choose Filter. Display Contact choose Local contacts and select All Contacts making a green check box and leave. Open up your contacts list and there I hope you have all your contacts again. If you have anything missing from accounts like gmail, yahoo etc. I think you have to chech also account sync.
Nevertheless no such thing must have happened.
That's all well and good saying back up your contacts, well I did back them up and they have disappeared of my gmail account as well, tried restore on that, and the contacts are not there.
Only had the z3 a week and already having problems, am not happy as restored my old phone after putting contacts in, now I have lost over a hundred numbers!
I have the same problem
How did you resolve it?
I bought my Sony Experia phone in December 14 and since February 15 the contacts have been disappearing on a regular basis. It could be the odd one or two, all of them, half of them, you can never tell. I have been turning the phone off for a couple of minutes and they re-appear. Went back to the Vodaphone shop in February and was refused a replacement, but told this is a common fault with this phone. But I could not have a replacement. The sound quality is also poor, i can't always hear the other person and vice versa.
Think sony should cough up and replace the phones, why should i return the phone, have no phone to use for up to one month and then not be guaranteed the situation will be rectified. Disgusting and will not buy Sony again!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me, but are you recommending to people that they "clear data" on their phone AND for their contacts app?
So... irreversably clear ALL the data from their contacts app? The interface provides a very serious warning advising this action will permanently DELETE all data - I assume that means delete all local contacts.
Could you please explain the reasoning behind this? Am I understanding this correctly? How would this help? It seems like a very drastic, very major, destructive action to do - so I just want to make sure I'm reading it correctly??
@Manachi That action won't delete any of your contacts, both phone app and contacts app are only displaying contacts as you see them. There is another application called contacts storage that holds the information. Please do not accuse me of anything before knowing about it.
Thanks for explaining @alexdon . I just wanted to clarify before doing that step. You can understand why I'd be hesitant to 'clear all data' from a 'contacts' app! But now I understand.
With my Z3,the 'call log' data has completely disappeared as well - is that data also held in contacts storage? If I 'clear data' on the phone and contacts app, would i be permanently deleting the call log?
Thanks
Yes,there were cases where clearing data for phone app has restored the call log. But sometimes people accidentally disabled call log from the phone app, where you can select hide/show call log.
Hi there, I have had the same problem - since purchasing the phone in February 2015 all my contacts have been erased twice. I have just tried the fix suggested (ie forcing stop on the phone app and contacts app, clearing data and then restarting the phone) but my contacts have not come back. How do I restore them?
Thanks
Hey my phone has for the second time just decided to delete some numbers but not all. So to be clear, it appears to have deleted some but not all contacts from my address book. Then in my call log or text message the number is stored but without a name.
I started to follow the suggested resolution process and until stop phone which I did but then became insecure about the next step as my problem is different from the one here. What to do next please?
