2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435

2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360

4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Sorry but other than the german excel file do we have something bit more serious with the matrix of product/fw/bug? And possible solutions or work around?

I've been collecting my issues and I also tried to send a pvt message to you @Anonymous but I didn't have a reply.
And thos thread is getting annoyng, more complains and futile discussions than proper bug report and help.
How many post do I have to write to start being able to create a new structured thread?

Its true that there are people on here complaining, but I think there is a very good reason why.... I fully understand the frustrations that are going on here and fully support people who have issues with these TV's. This is what a forum is for so we can highlight issues, I guess if no one complained then there would be no resolutions to the problems people are having and after spending a lot of money I think that people have a real right to complain. Keep on complaining I say but don't start to have a go at the people for doing so, after all Sony cant seem to be bothered to come on here and face the music and they are the ones you really should be complaining about.

The spreadsheet posted by @Anonymous has been replaced by a simpler Survey Monkey page here

Easy to use

NOTE: If you entered data in the old spreadsheet, you do NOT have to repeat the report, the data has been transferred

Product is is Sony 2015 KDL 43W805C Android TV, UK Model with YouView, purchased Sept 2015.

So now we have two bug threads (one "official"  and another), a spreadsheet (as requested by Sony) and a survey?  Is this survey requested by Sony? If not then although you are trying to help you probably aren't, too many lists will just confuse everyone and end up with disparate recording of bugs and issues.  I agree excel isn't the best tool for the job, but unless Sony are going to open up and manage a proper tool like Jira or ALM, then its as good as well will get.  These tools are only as good as the people monitoring and administrating them.

elraouk +1.

please keep to the origional standards guys to make it easier to manage.

there is already a locked thread on issues in the main televisions section and also the excel spreadsheet was in google cloud therefroe straight updates/saving direct back to the owner. i used this last night and it was being populated.

Edited to correct myself -  the spreadsheet has been replaced and is now a survery having just opened the spreadsheet again. Please use the survey link (which is now detailed in the origional excel spreadsheet if you happen to open it)
