The backup and restore app in settings in my experia e dual only allows me to back up to google servers and not my sd card. I backed up my contacts to the sd card directly from "Contacts" so the phone recognises the sd card. Any advice on how to get backup and restore to allow me to use the sd card??

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
As far as I know, Xperia E dual does not support any back up function as standard. The Backup & Restore function via Settings is only used to back up app data/Wi-Fi passwords and other settings to Google servers.
To be able to back up data to your SD-card, you need to download a third party application from Google Play. You can search on "Backup" or you can check out MyBackup/Helium backup.

It is actually not possible to make a backup on Xperia E dual via PC Companion.
Really Hampus?I did not know.Thank you for the info.
Thanks for that. I've now downloaded SanDisk Memory Zone (my SD card is SanDisk) and will try to learn how to drive it! (There is an instructional video.) Also, I note the comment about PC Companion. No backup/restore available and also very limited in what else it offers.
Backup and restore for my Xperia E Dual is now working, courtesy of SanDisk Memory Zone. If you need it, info and download at http://www.sandisk.com/products/software/memory-zone/. I can choose what to backup and also when, using the auto schedule.
Problem solved!
Hi Hampus, Thanks for your previous help with my backup problem. I hope you can help me again. When I received my Xperia E Dual, the sim 1 slot didn't work. The supplier has suggested I do a factory reset and erase everything! I take it this includes all apps including all factory supplied apps and the recently installed SanDisk Memory Zone backup app. Firstly, do you think a factory reset is worth a go, and if so, will a restore of the stuff I backed up to the SD card just require downloading and re-installing SanDisk memory zone? I had intended to back up all settings to Google servers as well. Should I also remove the SD card and the sim card before resetting and tapping that frightening 'erase everything' command? If you foresee disaster ahead using this method, I think I'd rather not take the risk and just live with the one working sim. The phone is currently working just fine.
