You could try contacting Sony support, or one of there authorised repair partners, as they 'may' sell you the part direct but I suspect they will probably just say that you'll need to arrange a repair..

Thanks for that,  I will be renewing this computer after April so do not want to incur any more costs.  I have opened up the back and removed a large amount of dust so hope that solves my problem.  It does not get as hot as it did now.

As you are planning on renewing your Vaio in April then limiting further expense sounds sensible to me..
