Further to my previous posts, can anyone tell me if there is a correct sequence for downloading the drivers from Sony? If so, what is it?
Having downloaded the drivers, the screen now shows correctly (is the correct width etc) but I lost audio. When I opened the audio file in drivers and clicked install nothing happened.
I have yellow query symbols against everything under "other devices" in Device Manager. Does this mean that the drivers are not being recognised?
I'm sorry to be a pain with this but before I go mad and buy the support discs from Sony I should like to try to recitify the problem if it is something I have done wrong.

Hi chc_perpro,
If using the installer file is not working then try installing the SoundMax driver from within Device Manager…
Extract the files from the installation package.
Click Start > Control Panel.
Double-click the System icon. Note: Select Switch to classic view if the system icon is not visible.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click Device Manager.
Click the + symbol in front of Device Category (audio device or if not present unknown devices) to expand the section.
Right-click the Device and click Properties.
Click the Driver tab.
Click Update Driver.
Click No, not this time and click Next.
Click Install from a list or specified location and click Next.
Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install and click Next.
Click Have Disk....
Click Browse and navigate to the folder where you placed the extracted files.
Click OK.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Reboot your system if requested.
