I have just bought a pay as you go version C6603 of the xperia z from 3. In the white paper it suggests that the WiFi works in the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. I can only get it to work in the 2.4 band. Has anyone had any success in getting it to work in the 5Ghz band. Thanks

You must have a SIMCARD inside the cellphone to access 5ghz band.
No simcard = only 2.4ghz. I hope this solves most people problem!
3G simcard is fine, no need LTE/4G.
Cheers.

I have the c6603 from Asia, I am not seeing the 5ghz support either.
I only see 2.4ghz.
TP-LINK WDR-4300.
hy, i use the 5Ghz band on my wifi-lan.
fritzbox7390 and sony z
Hi abyss71
Could you tell what channel it was using in the 5Ghz band please. My router had access to 36,40,44 &48. Thanks
Put in simcard, restore factory default.
5GHZ should show now.

Thanks Studie. I have just retried the phone, now that the simcard has been put in, and it works. Thanks very much for your help.

where can I find 5GHz / 2.4GHz switch??
I cannot see it in wifi options on my Xperia Z
Can you give me a screenshot?
I use 5GHz on my Z without problem and I get a lot more stable and fast net with that. Probably because nona of my neighbours use 5GHz so it is empty there.
It just worked for me.
What is the reason a SIM-card is needed för that?
